Riverbugging is a great activity for people from all walks of life. Whether a complete beginner, or maybe you've already sat in a raft or kayak, then you'd be thrilled and astounded what riverbugs can do and the sort of fun you can have with them. Riverbugs are the "hit". They are inherently stable and forgiving. No other boat inspires such confidence in whitewater. Riverbugs are intuitive to paddle, highly maneuverable, and can turn 360˚ on the spot and instantly change direction. Capsizing is no problem, it's part of the fun! Falling off and getting back on is child's play.
Who can join a riverbug tour? Anyone who is healthy, relatively fit, at least 125 cm or tall and can swim. No previous experience is necessary.
Itinerary: Tours run rain or shine between April & October.
At our base in Wildalpen you receive all the necessary equipment:
Flexible one piece 5 mm neoprene wetsuits (in Mens, Women's & Youth sizes, that are warm and pleasant also when the weather is cooler), neoprene boots, fins, bug-gloves, and for safety, swim vest and helmet make the riverbugger complete. For cooler temperatures we also have neoprene hats and gloves to wear under the helmet and paddle-gloves.
Then it's off to the river. After a briefing from an experienced riverbug guide you're ready to get wet, and practice together maneuvering your riverbug on the first part of the river. It doesn't take long to get your riverbug under control and start enjoying the action and natural surroundings.
After the adventure we return to Wildalpen
Looking for more? With a course you learn the proper technique and safety for riverbugging on whitewater. Or maybe you'd like to experience your own riverbug adventure? We rent riverbugs and equipment and recommend the suitable river section.
